Encounter The Word

I am reading a great book, entitled God Encounters by A. Allan Martin, Shayna Bailey and Lynell LaMountain. Among other things, the authors talk about a young adult movement called, GODencounters. These are people who are wholeheartedly seeking a 24/7 encounter or experience of GOD, and are recklessly living for His glory. Daring to deepen intimacy with GOD, the GODencounters experience gives focus to 7 discipleship themes in which practices of the Christian Faith are emphasized. GODencounters is an everyday, every-moment way of living. GODencounters motivate their community of Jesus disciples to:
  • Live lives of Worship
  • Be agents of the Gospel
  • Grace-fully express compassion
  • Pray without ceasing
  • Embrace Sabbath as Soul CPR
  • Morph into the Likeness of Jesus Christ
  • Celebrate in Jubilee
I love these 7 discipleship themes!

Encounter the Word:
Jeremiah wrote, "I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart" (Jeremiah 24:7).

Some Encounter Questions:
  • How close or how far do you feel from God? What kind of life do you wish to have with Him? Why?
  • What type of crowd do you feel most comfortable being with? What type of people do you feel God cares the most about?
  • Take a moment. What type of GODencounter do you desire? What would it be like for you to be in His Presence?
